Ketan, it is people like YOU who need to actually explore India - you're the type of person who puts India to shame! Firstly, get your figures right! Secondly, you must live a crap life to have such a narrow outlook on such a vast economy! But obviously, you seem to know how to use the Internet - too bad you're neither the "99%" nor the "1%" you talk of.

As for the questioner, I'm a citizen of the UK but my roots are from India - visit there once a year for 3 months. If you go to India to find things to criticise, then that's what you'll do. Don't forget, the documentaries you see about India are done for propaganda. Only the most remote villages are as bad as they're shown. You should spend any one day with someone of a mediocre (not even "high class") lifestyle, it'll be an enlightenment. With the cost of living in India you can afford a hell lot more for the same money as you would in any Western country.

Poverty is only 5% an aspect of India, not all of it. There's a whole 95% that you haven't known, which you should be ready to explore. Go to India for its culture, its history, its natural beauty, its people, its food, its shopping. You'll love it.

you have asked this question on the internet.Did you ever think that 99% of India does not use the internet co' it is too poor to afford it.Don't you think that some of the fortunate Indians that tell you what their life is like will give you an utterly wrong image of life in India. They can say it is not very good ,life standards are very low and all that. But do you think that a guy rich enough to use the internet will be ale to tell you the day to day life of an indian included in the 99% that can't? Think before you ask cos' you just wasted five points.

It all really depends on where you go. If you go to a small village, life is basically being a small home with the electricity going out all the time. However, if you go to a large urban city (such as Mumbai or New Delhi), life is pretty much like America. Of course, driving in those cities is just as bad as driving in New York City. Oh, and all of India is DEFINITELY not poor. To sum it up, there are developed places in India, there are places being developed, and places that decide to stay undeveloped and rural due to lack of resources.

Keetan that was a very dumb answer.. I am in the US and I speak with tons of people a day who do not know how to use the computers.. so they are never on the internet.. does that make them poor???

Think before you say something stupid you stupid..

Ketan - 1% of internet users in India makes good numbers in absolute. There is poverty in India. But not that 99% of people are poor to afford the internet. With 50% it is due to lack of awareness.
Using internet doesn't mean one is not aware about the day to day life. It all depends on how you interpret. For a layman, India is interesting and fascinating for sure. That is because of the diversity that can be found every where. Poverty is there in India and also in many countries including the developed countries. But that will not take away the charm from the country.
Yeah.. For any one to know how day to day life in a particular place is to feel it for them self by spending couple of days in that area.

INDIA is a land of Rich. INDIA is the land of culture. Indians are the most talented. The First university of the World is Nalanda University which was established in INDIA. Yes there is some what poverty but still people of India are very courageous. and only reason is their firm belief in GOD and they are very religious. Please check this
