First off all there should not be any reservations. Instead the government can work on giving free education to all under the age of say 10. All private schools should provide free education to at least 5 pupils (who are economically backward), in a class. For the graduation or above, any student should get a easy and, low interest loan which is repayable after the student gets a job. If any student is going abroad (for the reason other than studies and, if the student happens to settle there after the studies)he/she has to pay an hefty amount of fine to the government. Student security numbers can be introduced for this purpose. see, Its so easy, Were is the question of reservation here? Reserve only for the deserved.

Bleady those dosent have the ability & capacity they use the reservation Quota like SC,ST,OBC. If you have good quality there is no need for Reservation

It should be provided only to backward peoples(both socially and economically) with following restrictions:
1. only once either in studies or in job.
2. only one generation be rewarded.
3. list be amended regularly
Let they be helped in join mainstream.

it merits as a vote bank card !apparently a reservation to the parliament for the politicians!

in my opinion reservation should be irrespective of class and should apply only for those who stand below the minimum average of income(more specifically for the bpl category) class.

Reservation is useless and merely for votebank politics...
it shd nt be given to second generation people.
One of my friend comes under SC/ST quota ...she owns a honda city, goes for the best coaching classes in the city...studies in the best school and still comes under reservation.
Its just mere vote bank politics, Govt officials shd get treated by only SC/ST doctors ;) and should be flown in by SC/ST pilots ONLY.
Yeah it has merits but only when applied for economically poor people who do not get enough resources.
Instead of quota why cant govt educate people free of cost till high school.

Reservation in education and service resulted poor quality of work. in every field merit base approach should be adopted. due to reservation future will too dark because incompetent person set on the post where his knowledge is improper to hold that post. minus system objective style should be adopted in interest of healthy future of India.

" no merits". it is all political stunt. if we are really concerned about people those who really need help. we should make primary education compulsary and we should help them to give real education. give them special coaching till std. 8 th. so they can compete with other students. after 8th std. they will be able to take care of themselves. and no need of reservations at all.

Reservations really do not have any merit. They are nothing but a thief door. You do not expect some one who got everything easily without any real competition to be competitive. I am in favour of affirmative actions to help the underprivileged to get a comparative education, but simply giving away a job is not sanity. Reservations are like pulling back your best horses so that the horses that do not want to toil can keep up. Another thing is the criteria. Caste is an outdated system. Awarding quotas based on the caste is simple politics. Economical backwardness should be employed as the criteria for deciding reservations and only economic basis be employed for reservations. I think that reservations should be in less percentage.

I feel reservation should be given in education not in job.
it should be provided to the economically backward people regardless their cast,religion etc. provided they should have enough knowledge for further study.

currently i dont think there are merits because its being exploited.....Base it on the amount of money a person, his/her family is making or was making every year, base it on the financial status of the individual or his/her family....

Reservations were sought during Independence to bring upward the backward sections of society, It in the begining benefitted the backwards, but later on only the benefeciaries got more and more benefitted, Reservations are not a thing that happen in India alone, even in US the Black people have some sort of reservation(or you may call thet they are priortized) in various issues like loans etc., Reservations even today are helping backward classes but not upto the extent it is hurting the country, Because today the criteria of considering someone as backward has changed in cities, it has become economic status, so its better if the reservation is done on basis of earnings of a family, rather than on basis of caste, as today in India a person who can't afford leisure is considered as backward..

Merits................................ya... basic merit is that more & more cast are struggling hard to get in bhangi quota...one day will come when these reserved people will form a majority.........then reservation would be given to upper casts
