What is the best beach / area to stay in, around the Goa area in December.?

i just came back this evening after a 3 week holiday in beautiful Goa.

the North is very touristy, which is why we stay in Benaulim, South Goa...not so many tourists at all.

i picked up a card from a fabulous beach shack (which do the most fantastic food at really cheap prices. maybe you can email them for further details as they have lovely beach huts with fans, beds, showers etc....right on the beach.

I would recommend either Arambol (North Goa) or Palolem (South Goa) beaches. They are beautiful and though there are plenty of good cheap places to stay - including beach huts, there are few if any package style hotels. Your best bet is to buy a Lonely Planet guide but you will be able to get your accommodation once you are there. I got back from 3 months in Goa last week and it's not all that busy.
If you are arriving by air then go right outside the airport to the pre-paid taxi booth and book your cab - both destinations will be about an hour to an hour and a half from the airport.

We statyed at NANu hotel it was simple but nice and quite near beach.
Taxi outside to anywhere you want really cheap.

Goa is amazing go some where you can eat out, don't go all inc its a waste you need to get out and eat.

Joel. For you Colva or Benaulim beach in south Goa would be just the right kind of place to find the optimum serenity. Not too lonely. Not too crowded either.

For accomodation in these places try apartments with all self contained facilities and other amenities. Such places are better than hotel rooms besides being spacious and are much cheaper. Also you can book them for extended periods at discounts. Try the following blog address and send an enquiry.

They have places 5 minutes walk off the beach and the apartments are truly sparkling with hygienic surroundings. besides a neat air conditioned double bedroom, a hall with television, refrigerator as well as a gas connection with gas stoves and utensils . The cost per day is around 1200 - 1400 and extended stay is given a discount.

I'm from goa and i did live in the uk for a bit but home is where me heart is.Caverlossim beach is the best beach in the whole of goa.this is serious many go up noth and down south but when they come to cavelossim beach it's like they have reached and found what there looking for.

joel,.. am not from goa but i visited goa last november so i can just suggest you condolim beach is what i think is the best non noisy beach in north goa,..there you can find good rooms which are very near to the beach,..in around 1000 inr or 20 usd,...as i have seen that rest of the beaches are very crowded ones,.... and ya don't forget to visit cocco beach which is near to agwara fort,..
