rupees is the best in india.

i just take my bank card as there are lots of machines. You won't need much but its better not to have cash on you. go to palolem it is beautiful! it is suppose to be illegal to take rupees out of the country so you can't get them before...

Firstly, you won't need much money, so don't take wads and wads of any currency!

Personally, I would take your local currency rather than doing two convertions. For example, if you change GBP into USD, then USD into Rupees, you will lose out.

GBP are as good as USD and can be changed anywhere.

There are ATM's in all but the most remote places, so use those when they are available, as they will dispense Rupees. Change up your cash for Rupees if you are going further afield. And remember to ask for small notes, like 10 Rupees. You may find it very difficult to use the bigger notes, as they simply don't have the change available!

Email me if you have any other questions.

Have a good trip!

they love dollars!

go to Palolem- stunning!

It really doesn't matter. Take travellers cheques - there are places to change them everywhere. People did used to like English currency but it is dangerous for locals to have (if the Police catch them with it they will be accused of stealing it), and also lots of counterfeit money was ending up over there so people have become more wary.

has you can't get rupees here in UK. travellers cheques, sterling, or your credit/debit card. when you get to the airport in Goa, change your money to rupees, you get a very good rate, and that's the truth, better than the hotels,

faradayin
Takes lot of rupees.
And if you are going to exchange any other currency into rupees do it anywhere except in India.

Goa's a part of India. So their currency might be useful.

the currency for the country!

Our Man In Bananas
Indian Rupees .... or Euros, or GBP, or USD ...

Why not get an American Express Travellers Check card that you can use in cash machines in Goa to withdraw local currency, plus pay for meals and hotel ... and it has the same guarantee as AMEX Travellers Checks...

Indian Rupees in the currency of india.

If you can get them before you leave that would be great (we can get them in Australia but some travel exchanges don't keep them in stock so you need to order them which takes up to 7 days).

Otherwise take US dollars and exchange them when you get there. Try to exchange them at the airport as you will get the best rate there. You can also exchange them at your hotel but hotels offer pretty much the worst exchange rate possible. Also there should be a number of small Western Union operators located around Goa to do the exchange.

Also you can use your ATM card in India provided it has a cirrus symbol on the back and withdraw cash from any bank that also carries the cirrus symbol on their ATMs, the bank fees tend to be high per transaction though. Visa and Mastercard is also widely available just look out for the symbol.

Pounds, euro or dollars. Any of these. Also note that the blackmarket exchange rate is pretty high. Somebody in your hotel will approach you with a deal.

Queen of Swiss
whatever you take , at the end of the day, you need to pay in Rupees, so it is better to convert your currency to rupees before travelling
