Well "dams" are govt projects and the public pays in taxes for them to be built ...so i don't know about a Freedam ...however let me explain about Freedom! I guess this is what you are looking for.
India got it's independence on midnight 15 August 1947. Is freedom just a date in a calender or does it mean something more?
Freedom is every human beings birthright. It is the social fabric that enables you to be who you are. It is a fabric that binds the people of a country together and fight for independence. It is the basic need of a living being, to put in the simplest of terms.
However, with each right there is a duty associated with it, especially with the right to Freedom. As many times in India, freedom is considered to be "for free". I sincerely hope that the sacrifices and the efforts needed to gain this freedom are not forgotten by the masses. And i think it is more important to realise how tough a task it is to maintain your freedom that you so cherish.
The duties that come along with the right to freedom need to be considered before exercising that right. Freedom doesn't mean moving in a car and throwing the banana peel out of the car. Freedom doesn't mean abusing your environment. Freedom doesn't mean arguing politics in your living room over a drink and then not exercising your right to vote. Freedom sure doesn't mean abusing your own self and in the process being a risk to yourself and others too. Freedom doesn't mean feeling proud of your nation (India) only during a cricket match against Pakistan and then turning a blind eye to the poor child begging along the roadside. (And we thought education was free in India?)
Freedom is having a responsible attitude towards your nation and its people and the environment too. Freedom is having your right to say and then your duty to say and shout when something wrong is occurring.
Freedom is not turning a blind eye to the injustice around you but it is turning others towards the light.
Freedoms means exercising your rights AND your duties!

the correct spelling is freedom but not freedam. it means liberty to write, express u r views or do the profession according to u r desire and earn money legally and acquire property legally etc. freedom is a biggest word that can be used or exercised in different contexts.
