What kind of job could an American get in Bangalore?
I think I'd like to like in Bangalore for a while. I'm 47 and semi-retired. I've always been self-employed and have no degree. I'm quite intelligent (Mensa) and both my written and spoken English is impeccable. I don't speak Kannada or Hindi except for a few words. Have lived in India for about a year total (6 months in Trivandrum), so the culture is not a problem.
I'd need a job to pass the time. Can anyone recommend a prospective employer or a job position I'd be qualified for?
Thanks,
Jim Additional Details I don't need a whole lot of money; it's more important that I work with other smart, creative people.
As an american with your cultural background you can be a lot helpful in the soft skills training/Co-ordination areas
1. Any Software Company: Trainer/Co-ordinator for Communication skills and Cultural Building. Check with GE India, GE is big on such Ideas. Motorola, Infosys, Wipro, TCS (TATA), PCS (Patni Comnputer Services)
2. Any BPO: You will be a best fit, to bring in your cultural and american job culture. Most of the call center folks require coaching around social/Cultural and communication skills. This will pay you enough and also makes you more popular. A highly visible job role.
3. Tourist companies PRO. You can be a good guest to treat other fellow americans or english speaking citizens of the world to help them around thier tourism requirements. The tourist companies can briefly train and you can easily reach any customers of the Tourist companies to help better sell thier services.
These are some that come on the top of my head.
Best of Luck.
