Which part of India are you planning to visit? Anytime if fine if you can put up with 110+ deg in the summer. Light cotton clothing, a hat, lots of water and a sunscreen should counter the heat. If you are fairly well off financially, you could zip around in an A/c car and you wont feel a thing.

i am happy that you love our culture! well it depends when and where you want to go. during the summer(april to june) you can visit the beautiful hillstations like himachal pradesh ooty, kodaikanal, munnar etc.... but the best is kashmir and gulmarg in jammu & kashmir. you can go to jammu & kashmir if you are brave because sadly there is a lot of terrorism there. yet many tourists go there in summer. between november and february its really cold in the north and pleasent in the south.its ideal to visit the southern places between november and february. there are soooo many places to visit. for detailed information go to www.incredibleindia.org where you will find all the information you need. i hope you enjoy the trip to atulya bharat - incredible india!!

Anytime between October to March is a good time but if you an even cooler or more pleasant time then I would say November to February....

Thanks,warm welcome, let me include few points between these good answers. if u do have time between oct to feb that's quite good otherwise u can enjoy visiting india during any season of the year since India covers almost all physical geography(desert,beach,mountain,plateu,i... so do the culture try Himalaya regions and coastal areas during summer visit Kerala,kanyakumari ,cherapunji.
badrinath,kedarnath u can visit it only in summer season since they are situated on high hill area 14000ft hindu pilgrimage

November- January is the best time of year, because you avoid the Monsoon season, which can be really hot and humid (but if that is the experience you're after then Jun-August would be better). It can be really beautful, but you need to avoid the big cities if you want to avoid heavy pollution

hei, mary & ur most welcome 2 india u can visit any india any time except rainy seoson as but it is not strict. as u love indian culture u can enjoy any month in india with any festival india has different climate situations in india 4 eg if if it is rain in east then west has a hot climate if north has snow the it is medium temp in south.

Since this will be your first time visiting India, I suggest you come between October and Febuary. The weather is pleasant during that time.

I really recommend you read up on India carefully -- especially if you are a woman.

Since you want enjoy the culture of India,then you have to visit a place(any) during a festival time.As you can see its traditions.You can visit India from Oct till Jan as its festival time(specially Oct & Nov).And since its a winter season(after rainy season) you can enjoy the greenary,falls,pleasnt weather
