Well first of all recruit eligible police men, then train good, then keep a track of their performance every time, and they have to punish bad police men by firing them, its all about man management , they have to supervised, in india no one is a good manager, its not only police every government worker should be supervised strictly.....

I know... I'm from the UK and I've heard a lot about Indian policemen. The UK's police is very reliable and helpful, it's a shame that India has such a bad protection system.

There's too much corruption in India (e.g. bribery).

unfortunately in this country everyone is corrupt right from The top.we people are corrupt ( blame it on excess population), politicians -everyone knows. religious leaders also corrupt each preaching - but all of them owning vast ashrams.
No hope in this country - better survive as best as u can.If u want to be happy, better to be corrupt within legal limits and enjoy a good life, or live yr life in poverty and misery.

in this case you should go look for help from a mayor or some one who has government power.The easiest way is to go to the city council and file a report on the specified incident and how police are not doing their job. During this process the city council should bring up this topic in the next meeting, and have an agreement on what measures to take and how to solve this problem.

because when i came to India in the summer, just at the airport the police men started asking me for money, he said your not aloowled to take 2 cameras without paying tax . when i clearly told him that one was a Video camera and one was a photo camera i told him i was going to bring both of them back but hes like either pay me $100(american) or pay the tax which is $400 (American) i kept on telling him i was going to bring the cameras back with me.HE didn't stop then i told him i only have $20 American. hes like fine thats good enough. this was my first time going to india and i was so upset. I Never on planning going back. what a greedy country
