What to get from India?

I'm Indian too but have been living here in Canada for a while.

My friend is coming back to Canada from India (Mumbai). She really wants to bring me something and is not taking 'no' for an answer. So I have to tell her what to bring for me. I don't want her to go through the pains of going to places and getting things specially for me...maybe just something that is readily available for which she doesn't have to go out of her way.

If any of you have either travelled to India or are living there, can you please suggest a few things?

tamil..from vellore
Lemon, mango, garlic pickles, appalams which are best in india and you can say to get.

Besides,

you can get other things in canada.

and hence, ask her to bring the rich cultures, traditions and respecting elders.

I will love fashionable shoes & clothes from India as it's not expensive there. If you like sweets tell her to get Bombay Ice halwa (you have to check with custom first as not all country allowed sweets)
Enjoy!!!!

When I visited India (Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Mount Abu) I brought back several things, but my favorites are little statues made out of white marble (Ganesh, and little animals) and I got some really pretty wind chimes made out of brass and beads. I also got some really fabulous silver jewelrey---one with a tiger's eye stone in the center that was really cheap but beautiful.

The easiest thing for her and the prettiest thing for you would be Earrings and Bangles. She can find them everywhere and anywhere and their gorgeous. Also you can ask her to bring Henna, its cheap and useful. Bindis are also very easy to find and come in a million different shapes and sizes. You can also ask for small accessories for your hair, such as small clips and slides. There are also small rings on which you can have your name written on: but these are harder to find. I highly recommend the earrings and bangles because they are not expensive, easy to find, gorgeous and practical to use on a a daily basis. Hope you enjoy whatever she brings you !=]

When I went to India a few years back I purchased some beautiful sheets and pillowcases as well as other fabric. They have gorgeous fabric.

Rocky
Indian condom(Nirodh), you don't get them anywhere else.

This may be a practical idea: medication is super cheap in India, if you had a few items you would want for your stock she could easily get this at the next medical store for just a few bucks. Every time I return to Europe from India, I am bringing medical supplies for my whole family, they love it.

Stuff I bring includes nose drops, eye drops, antibiotics (Azithral), antibiotic cream (Fucidine), sleep helpers etc. noone aks for prescriptions here. Maximum they ask me for the name of my doctor, my standard answer is "Dr. Rajesh" - taken down, no questions asked :)
