India is full of culture yet it is very poor and dirty and of course very very crouded, and on 1000pounds you can probably live like a king there(depends on how many days ur going) the things there are cheap
once there never save money on ur food becuz the cheap food there would get you sick(dirty) ur living should be taken care of in a hotel
Hope u all the best on ur journey^^

1000 pounds for how many days in India ? Not much really when you convert it into Indian Rs.
Five Star accomodation is costly. You'll need more than that for a week of luxury in India.
If you are planning a budget holiday then 1000 pounds should get you a comfortable stay.
Shop around for some good holiday offers, You could try this site.

Its also a huge country so choose what you would like to see.
Yes, its better to avoid street food. NOT because its dirty, but because your palette might not be accustomed to the spices etc.
Please make advance bookings as the tourist and business traffic is very high. Even the expensive hotels that start at $ 200/night are fully booked often.
