1. Juhu beach/Chowpatty (x) - too overcrowded
2. Gorai Beach - Too far North suburbs but quiet, relaxed, calm place
3. Madh Island - Nice beach if you can stand the stench of freshly-caught Bombay duck (a variety of fish)
4. Kanheri caves - at Borivali National Park - nice, historical place. Well worth a one-day picnic. Watch out for the cheetahs and leopards!!! They're often in the open.
5. Elephanta caves and cruise from Gateway of India - good, exciting trip. Also, historical place.
6. Aarey Milk Colony and Film City near Goregaon.
7. Powai Lake - nice,cool, tranquil
8. Navy Nagar, Colaba. - Has lots of scenic, clean, grassy locations.

Actually, there are ENDLESS picnic locations all around Bombay. There are some less-known hills around Malad which are well-worth a trip. You have to train your eyes to spot the location. |
