u can travel all over India any time of the year. u just need to plan according to the place u are visiting. travel has become very comfortable these days where the railways are concerned & flights have become much cheaper. so u need not restrict yourself to weather to go to any particular place.

India is a big country with varying temperatures and weather conditions. It all depends on where in India you want to visit. Most of the year most of the places have moderate weather so its good and there are few places where you have to visit in winter and few places you have to visit in summer.

Between January and April is the best time to travel in India. May to June are very Hottest months. July to December are very Coolest months. Either this nor that causes infectious diseases like diarrhoea, virus fever, Conjunctivitis (Madras Eye) and other infectious disease affected entire travelling programmes.

I would say that you decide the time and I will be able to tell you different places for the same time period. If you are adventure loving and would like to go river rafting you can check out the Himalayan terrain from north to north east. If you like calm place you can go to the andamans. Specifically you can enjoy the see route one way, while returning by air. If you are looking for religious or mythological places, then you can travel along the river ganga in UP area or the whole of southern India you can go, but Tamilnadu will again be very hot during summer. The Taj Mahal is an ever green place of visit. If you are looking for historic places then the Rajasthan area is great but during summer the temperature is high. You can visit Ajantha - Ellora caves in maharastra, Kajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. If we just keep listing, the list will just go on... For me the whole of India is a place worth seeing, but it is time that decides what all you can see and where you can spend time. In summer also you want you can go to chilling himalayas. For rains at any time go to Meghalaya. You can also see back waters of Kerala. Nature lovers can go to the several wild life sanctuaries spread over the country. If you want to check in Hindu Mythological places then, in Andhra Pradesh, you have Tirupati, where you have the holy adobe of Lord Venkateshwara is present. This temple is listed as the world's top most earners in terms of donations and the list goes on... Best time is just about now till end of Feb/mid March. Nights are a cool 22C and it warms up with low humidity to a high of 28C. No rain. It is extremely pleasant to get around.

If you travel in the northern sections you will need a heavy sweater. The weather is like late fall/early winter in N.America.

In the southern sections it is quite pleasant, no heavy clothings are necessary.

BASically it depends on which part of country you want to travel,
but still the most favourible time is MARCH and APRIL
