Where's the best place to live in India? |
I'm thinking somewhere not too expensive where I can rent an apartment and enjoy some good food and explore the culture and the festivals. And how much do you think this will cost? I'm not looking for a mini-America, I'm more than willing to go native. Looking for a friendly place. |

kodaikanal
Kodaikanal is a hill station on the southern tip of the upper Palani Hills in Dindigul District of the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. Kodai is also a minor tourist attraction, and many of the locals make their living through tourist services. Kodaikanal is sometimes referred to as "Princess of Hill stations."
The nearest airports are Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.
There are several temples, mosques and churches in the town. There are numerous hotels of all grades, various restaurants, six banks and three hospitals.
Close to Kodai is the Physical Observatory. Its director John Evershed discovered the phenomenon of radial motion in sunspots, now known as the Evershed effect.
Kodaikanal is also renowned for the Kodaikanal International School. There are five further schools (two of them teaching in Tamil), two colleges and the Mother Theresa University.
There is an excellent bazaar where one can buy woollen material, flowers, vegetables, handmade articles, hot snacks, children toys, medicinal herbs and oils. The cosmopolitan nature of Kodai is evident at the market place where it is not uncommon to see Scandinavian backpackers, retired French tourists and people from other parts of India enjoying fresh pastries served by Tibetan refugees. |

Ok i would suggest u Goa...but u said u are not looking for mini amercia...
Then please go for Rajasthan i.e. either Udaipur OR JAiPuR
Out of these two....
I would prefer UDAIPUR........
Because of its culture, its city of lakes and palaces, tourist attraction..... not all that expensive....Ok Regarding cost- i'll ask my friend and will tell u.
If you're looking for some peace n culture, then never go for Mumbai;)
Hey even Mt. Abu is beautiful place... but i think its bit expensive.
IF you like hill stations then plz go fo Shimla or Manali or Mahableshwar.
But Udaipur is best one. |

India is a big country with many languages spoken and people with different culture. Regarding expenses cost of living in India is pretty economical and you will not have much of a problem due to it. The next question where to live to explore the culture . For this I would suggest you stay in the following cities for 1 month each and go around the nearby places of site seeing. 1. New Delhi to see uttar pradesh culture & see places like taj mahal , Red Fort, Akbar palace , Varanasi (kasi) etc 2. Kolkatta (calcutta) to see the west bengal culture, river ganges etc 3. Hyderabad to see the muslim culture & Andhra culture and see historical places like Golgonda fort, salarjung museum etc 4. Mumbai ( Bombay) to see the Maharastra culture and see one of the biggest Metros of the world rolling with business 5. Chennai (Madras) To see the south Indian culture, the beautiful temples , the second largest beach in the world (Marina) and visit holy shrines like Tirupati ( The Richest God in the World both in money and the number of devotees per day) you can also visit from here places like Madurai , Trichy, Trivandrum ( malayalam culture) Kanya Kumari ( the tail end of India ) where you can see the three seas joining the vivekananda rock etc. Hope I have not confused you with so much of details. The country is very safe and everybody understands english and you will have no problem at all. Wish you a happy & sucessful journey. |

Why would u want to live in India?
Yeah, you probably like seeing ppl do their business in public, fight for no reason and have no respect for others' property. Real nice.
If you really do like all of that, any place in the country is great.
