The Mahatma Gandhi Road or MG Road, at the heart of Bangalore is the city's fashionable shopping street. While brightly lit showrooms add glamour, quaint little shops dealing in old vinyl records and books encourage one to browse through a generation of dusty and rare paperbacks and records. There are many new stores showing up lately, including KFC.

M.G.Road is one of the must-visit places in the itinerary of a Bangalore tourist. Upmarket shopping areas like Brigade Road, St. Mark's Road and Commercial Street are situated at a short distance from here, which makes it a center for commerce.

Along with retail stores and food outlets, M.G.Road is also home for a large number of financial institutions like ING Vysya, Vijaya Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce etc. The road stretches from Trinity circle to the Kasturba Circle. On its trinity circle end are located some of the Bangalore's best hotels like The Oberoi and the Taj West End.

I agree with wikipedia as far as facts but you need to be more specific about what you're looking for. It's true that MG Road has a lot of touristy stuff but only if you want to get stuck looking at only the tourist traps. There is so much more to India. There are many gorgeous parks, wonderful restaurants. Yes, the hotels have nice food but I always ate at Indian restaurants that my Indian friends suggested; delicious beyond compare and inexpensive.

I just found this www.discoverbangalore.com.
