The '0'km mark for Mumbai is the Mumbai General Post Office (GPO).
In ancient days, when the British ruled India and other parts of the world, an elaborate system of calculating distances between any two cities was implemented, which was based on the postal system.
Thus, the distance from one city to another would be the distance from the GPO of that city to the GPO of the other city. For example, the distance from Pune GPO to Mumbai GPO would be considered as the distance from Pune to Mumbai.
This system of measuring distances between towns and cities continues today as well since most GPOs in India are of British vintage. Therefore, '0'km in Mumbai means you are standing at the Mumbai GPO.

In Mumbai (an old English name is Bombay, locals aways called it Mumbai in many Indian languages).
There is no such Marker. But look at the Map of Bombay and It may show a Zero mile line at the north or south end of the Bombay, and also at West extremity of the Bombay Island.
Down town is not defined as far as that goes, most consider Fort Bombay area as Original Down Town Area, some may consider Flora Fountain as the Down Town Area.
I would say if I am asked it would be Old Bombay Municipal Building, at the Foot of the statue of Mayor of Bombay, Sir Firojeshah Mehta.

There is no mark of mumbai 0Km location. But as per Govt record it is the starting point / ending point and it originates from The GPO which is located outside the Mumbai CST station.
