Amaravathinagar (or Amaravathi Nagar) is in the foothills of Annamalai Hills in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, India; about 22 km from Udumalaipettai and around 90 km from Coimbatore. The three major parts in this village are the Amaravathi Reservoir & dam, Sainik School and the Glucose Factory.
Amaravati is a small town situated on the banks of the River Krishna in the Guntur District (of which it is a mandal) of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is an excavation site of an ancient Buddhist Stupa. It was also the capital of Satavahanas, the first great Andhra kings who ruled from the 2nd century BCE to the 3rd century CE, after the downfall of Maurya empire.
Places of historical importance in Guntur District are Amaravathi, Ponnur, Bhattiprolu, Kotappakonda, Undavalli caves, Gurazala, Macherla and the archeological museum in Guntur. |
