'Neeraarum kadaludutha Nila-madanthaikku ezhilozhukum,

Thekkanamum, adhil sirandha Dravida nal thirunadum :

English translation : "The Indian continent is the cherubic face of the maiden we call the Earth, who wears the sea as a drape. The sacred dot which adorns the forehead of that face is the Southern stretch the 'Dravida'. And with its fame smelling sweet like that sacred dot's perfume, is the mighty land of the Tamils."
