Golden Temple, which is Sikh people's pilgrimage centre is in Amritsar, cultural capital of State Punjab. It is a temple centre of pond where everybody treated as Sikh irrespective of their origin and religion. Amritsar is border city of India and Pakistan which is about 40 Kms from Lahore of Pakistan.

Golden Temple is in Amritsar the capital of Punjab. Amritsar has many more places where you can visit. The infamous Jalianwala Bag is there where thousands of Hindus and Sikhs were gunned down when they were holding a peaceful protest against the then British Raj. Golden Temple is a Sikh Shrine where the most famous gurus of Sikhs used to stay. The famous Akal Takth is in the same Gurudwara. When Indira Gandhi was the prime minister of India she ordered the local police and the army to raid the Temple because some terrorist where hiding there. This operation was named The Blue Star Operation and you can say that this was the start of bloody terrorism in Punjab which continued for more then a decade.

a new golden temple which is called golden temple of south is at malaikodi near vellore in tamilnadu constructed at the cost of 300 cr.

Golden Temple is in Amritsar in Punjab. Actally it is not a temple, it is a Gurudwara.
