omg.. i don't know where to begin.
if ur landing in the capital, u shud stay there for 3 days and see india gate, qutub minar.. basically wherever u are staying, there is a bus service that takes foreigners all arnd delhi.. places worth seeing.. history culture.. its a very interesting trip.
from there, u shud go via shatabdi to agra and fatehpur sikri.. a day trip. SO WORTH IT.
and u cud get a cab or train to jaipur, jodhpur.. (the most beutiful palaces in the state of rajasthan), udaipur, jaisalmer.
there is guides and pacakges available easily.
uh.. partying clubbing is best at goa (its safe) and mumbai where the bollywood industry is.
u shud go to punjab to see the richness, the rich culture, beautiful hospitality.. the golden temple in amritsar is beautiful.
uh. back down south, kerala backwaters is beautifullllllll.. i just came back from kumarakom and it was breathtaking.
bangalore taj is a nice place to stay at if u visit the city.
the southern most tip of india is kanyakumari, which is close if u r going to kerala. kanyakumari si where the bay of bengal, indian ocean and arabian sea meet and three different colours of water..
omg the beauty of india is endless..

There r many beautiful places in india. Start with TAJ MAHAL, agra. There r many natural beauties in d northern & southern parts , mostly in jammu & kashmir and in kerela There r also many temples. visit them also.

u should land in either mumbai or delhi

if u land in mumbai and want to see beaches- go to goa or kerala. if u get to delhi, you could go to the desert - Rajasthan that has jaipur, jaisa;lmer, udaipur, jodhpur or the forest - corbett forest, or the hills in himachal and utarranchal (many places) or Agra or kashmir or dharamsala (famous buddhist monastery).

alternatviely u could go cities like haridwar, varanasi that are traditional hindu home grounds and u get a feel of traditional / semi urban / hindu india

Visit, Delhi firstThen
Taj Mahal and Moghal Gardens in Agra.
Then go to Mathura (Lord Krishna`s Birthplace)and fathepursikri (Dargha) in UP(near Agra).
Then Visit Rajasthan Jaipur(Pink city) beautiful place having lots of palaces.
Then visit Khajuraho temples in Madhyapradesh,
Go to Mumbai without forgetting.
And in south visit Bangalore,Mysore in Karnatak.
then go to Kerala.
And of course visit Goa.
Watch some bollywood movies too!! :)

I can not recommend to take the default tourist route. There is really no point to see the Taj Mahal, its just a building. Most tourists spend their time in busses on bad and congested roads and in overcrowded dirty metros (which are all the same, and all suck) and entirely miss to actually see and feel the real India.

If you tour around the world, I assume you have limited time. I recommend you spend your time in Kerala, which offers an excellent blend of possibilites to experience the country. Cruising the backwaters in a houseboat for 2-3 days (start from Alleppey) is a most incredible experience, one of the things you will remember for life. You could go to Munnar, a beautiful hill station, for a change in climate. You could spend time on the beach in Kovalam or Varkala, and get yourself some nice arjurvedic treats. Then there are plenty of temples and sites to see along this route, and the distances are all not that huge. You can easily fly in and out of Trivandrum or Cochin, which are well connected to the Gulf, Colombo and Singapore.

Go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal as long as you go after the monsoon (end of Sept.). Head towards Shimla, and Manali just to get an Indian taste of the Himalayas. There are also many things to see in Delhi. Then go to Mumbai and the Konkan coast in Maharashtra. There are beautiful forts of the Maratha kingdom, and beautiful beaches here.

you can start from bombay to the end of india by land. It's marvelous.
You can pass GOA and Backwaters. One of the most amazing scenes I've ever met in my life.
Kerala is a must to see in India. I like to travel there again.
