Depends on how much money and time you have. Here are some interesting places: Varanasi, formerly Benares, which has been a Hindu center of pilgrimage for centuries; Mumbai, formerly Bombay, the financial capital, a sophisticated city with many intersting sights; the Taj Mahal by moonlight in Agra; Old and New Delhi, which combine the ancient and contemporary, the Hindu and the Muslim: Chennai, formerly Madras, for an introduction to South India, which has its own character; Bangalore or Hyderabad as cyber or computer hubs; Kerala in the South or Goa on the west coast for their beaches. There are many other places-- Rajasthan, for instance, and Jaipur in particular, have a rich history and culture-- but I hope I have got you thinking: a good deal depends on your particular interests. |
