7 days is too short for keeping "India" as scope. Since you are landing in Mumbai : Goa is one definite destination. THen Mumbai itself, you can get lost very easily in that city. You can go to Khandala, MAtheran etc. If Possible go to Ajanta and Ellora caves. Its a must. But it will be time consuiming. Go to ITDC office / website and plan out. If you want to go with the "flow" travelling in India can be complicated. Be aware of that and plan out before hand.
Plan on atleast one train journey (Mumbai to GOa on Konkan route is beautiful). |

Seven days is very short for India and it would depend on what time of year you are going. Around Mumbai it should be dry mid October onwards. In 7 days I would recommend:
Organised tour of Mumbai - haven't done this myself but have heard there are good reputable tour guide companies woi can do this - will save loads of precious time. A trip to Ajanta / Ellora to see the cave temples - fabulous, back to Mumbai, get a flight down to Goa (plenty of cheap internal airlines can do this for around £20 - Spicejet, Kingfisher, Deccan Air), chill out on the beach for a few days - north Goa if you like to party, south if you like it quiet, fly back to Mumbai. If you were really ambitious you could look into flying up to Delhi and back to see the Taj as well. Depends on the trade-off between seeing as much as possible and coming home exhausted!
Have a great time whatever you do - bet you'll be back for longer next time! |

You can blindly go to INDIAN TOURISM & DEVELOPMENT (A Govt. of India Enterprise) and ask for the ready-made tour plan. Or you can catch hold of their website, send emails and plan the visit accordingly. |

Yes, Kerala is by far the most beautiful in India. Ooty, Goa and Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India.Breathtaking views. The Himalayas and Kashmir. I just got back. Im leaving again in two weeks. 7 days is not enough, i promise you. These places i mentioned are not overcrowded. They are also just a few that i have mentioned. there are so many other beautiful places.
Enjoy it. It's worth it. |

With only 7 days you need to be realisitic about what you can do in that time. Spend some time in Mumbai and then move on to Goa. There are flights there daily and they are cheap. Have a look at the link below for loads of help with Goa. ( Actually I would probably go to Goa first and then go back to Mumbai for a couple of days- you might find that is a better use of time) |
