Jaipur - The Pink city of India -

Capital (pop., 2001 prelim.: 2,324,319) of Rajasthan state, northwestern India. A walled town surrounded by hills (except to the south), it was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh to replace Amber as the capital of the princely state of Jaipur. The city, known for its beauty, is unique in its straight-line planning; its buildings are mostly rose-coloured, and it is sometimes called the “pink city.” It is a popular tourist destination; historic structures include the city -

Jaipur, the capital of desert state Rajasthan is called "Pink City."

It was founded in 1727 by king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities. In 1876, Jaipur was repainted and dressed itself pink to welcome Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II, and thus the name “Pink City” stuck to it.

Alex, u seem to be a smart guy! You have made so many people give you answer for an obvious answer.

Kaliyug Ka Plato
Jaipur in Rajasthan because of the obsession of the townsfolk with Pink Panther movies. Peter Sellers spent some time in Jaipur practising town mannerisms. Ever since the eternally grateful Maherujjah of Bunderstan province urged his subjects to honor everything pink on the horizon. The townspeople worship pink roses, watch pink sunsets, pour pink dye in milk, paint the town pink instead of red ... well you get the picture . Even the ladies of Code Pink are mulling establishing a headquarter there.

Jaipur in Rajasthan is called the "Pink city" because of the natural pink shaded stones available there.

lone_dreamr
Pink City is Jaipur because of the pink stone used in making houses, and though not very commonly known, Jodhpur has many houses painted blue. From Mehrangarh fort, the sight is amazing to see blue stretched beneath.

Jaipur capital of North western Indian State Rajasthan is called Pink CIty. It got its name due to colour of Core City Buidling which Architecturally regulated to have only Pink (colour of most Indo Saracenic buildings).
