The best quality apples are produced in heights. More the height, better is the quality of apples. The apples which come in markets in July - August is from low height area. This apple is tasty but there is no longevity of the fruit. Normally apples from Himachal arrive in market during this period. Apple plucking in high altitude starts by September 1 and continues till November 15, both in Himachal and Kashmir. This is the best quality apple. The best quality Himachal apple comes from Kinnaur district. The variety most common in Himachal is Royal Delicious. Other high altitude area in Himachal is Baaghi in District Shimla.
