shimla, srinagar, mussoorie, darjeeling and gangtok are good and famous ones. There are many more less commercialized hill stations nearby each of these.

I personally don't consider ooty and kodaikanal in tamilnadu and coorg in karnataka any worth. The hills are too small and too crowded.

well i will prefer udhagamandalam better known as Ooty..it is called tha queen of hill stations picturesque,green Ooty the most popular hillstation in south.Located in the western ghats at a height of 2240m ,Otty is the headquaters of the niligiris district.Apart from coffee and tea plantations,trees like conifers,eucalyptus,pine and wattle dot the hillside in Ooty and its environs. Curiously enough,this of paradise remaind unknown to the great southern dynasty and it took british to discover in early 1800s.Best way is to go by train...
Places of Interest : Children Lake garden,Botanical garden,lake,Stone house,St.stephend's church and graveyard,Coonoor,Kothagiri and Pykara Lake.
