Coimbatore is the best place in Tamilnadu. The city is good, good climate most of the year, good people, medium cost of living Chennai is the worst place in india.

Coimbatore also known as Kovai, is an industrial city in South India. It has the second largest population in Tamil Nadu after Chennai and the fourth largest in South India. It is the administrative headquarters of Coimbatore District. Coimbatore is known for its textile factories, engineering firms, automobile parts manufacturers, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, pleasant weather, friendly culture and hospitality. Coimbatore has an emerging Information Technology industry. Situated on the banks of the Noyyal river, Coimbatore is also known as Koneyammanputhhur, which means "birth-place of the Goddess" (koni amman).

Tamil Nadu has quite a number of places worth visiting. Depends on your interest. Madurai is very good (though it can be very hot) but kodaikanal a hill station is abt 2 hrs drive from there Trichy is good, Coimbatore further south is another good place (ooty another hill station is very close). Nilgiris for its beautiful climate and tea gardens is another place worth visiting, kanchipuram which is close to chennai and famed for its looms and temples is very good (though I do not know if it is a city). Chennai itself which is the capital of Tamil Nadu.
