i lived in both cities madurai for 17 years and in cbe for 4 years ..
NO DOUBT ITS MADURAI resons follow
madurai is historical city originated before 10000 years but coimbatore became city only befor 25 years .

the important thing about madurai is it has under ground drainage which present only in two cities in tamil nadu the other being cheenai
coimbatore lacks under ground drainage

madurai is heart of tourism in tamil nadu even the tamil nadu tourism head quarters is present in madurai

cost of living is very low

many historical places are there in madurai

in INDIA there are only 7 gandhi museum and one is present in madurai

MADURAI AS A JUNCTION BUT COIMBATORE DONT HAVE JUNCTION

and there are many reason y madurai is better than cbe

madurai rocks ...

If you are a tourist you will find Madurai f interesting as it is an ancient city like Benares.
If you want to live, Coimbatore is streets ahead of Madurai (literally too) because it is
- more cosmopolitan
-- better industrial business environment
- better air and rail connectivity
-- Lovely weather (madurai will roast you)
- Good water
- More modern in all respects.
madurai is the lungi capital of TN, rustic and dirty.
Except meenakshi temple not worth talking about.

COIMBATORE... is better

Undoubtedly its Coimbatore, also known as 'Manchester of southern India'.

Coimbatore is the second largest city in Tamil nadu, next only to chennai. It is known for its various industries, engineering goods, textile mills, educational institutions, health care facilities, pleasant weather, friendly culture and hospitality

CBE might lag historic features like Meenakshi temple, but it has AMritha malai, perur shiva temple on its side.

Though cbe is developed during the recent years, the rate of development has led to the drastic improvement of its infra structure.

Recently, CBE has become the next stop on IT map.

It has a the top educational institutes like PSG tech, GCT(which is presently called as Anna university Coimbatore), CIT etc.

Coimbatore also has a 160,000 square feet trade fair ground, named COINTEC. The Trade Fair complex, named CODISSIA is one of the country's largest. It is also the country's largest pillar-free hall, according to the Limca Book of Records.

It has a much improved road system and F3 racing circuit too.

Also there are plenty of hang out places.
Race course, RS puram, Cross cut road and town hall are filled with numerous huge complexes, restaurants, hotels and malls.
Even Spencer and Shopper's stop are being constructed in the city and will be opening shortly.

the famous hill spot Ooty is just 80kms far from the city.

One can have modern life in CBE. in short the style of living is much better in Coimbatore when compared to Madurai.
