FOR CURIOUS NON-INDIANS :-
Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis are obsessed with having pale skin.
They even have skin products in India such as:- FAIR AND LOVELY, and FAIR AND HANDSOME. They think its very important to have pale skin. One of the prerequisites of the Indian concept of beauty is to have pale skin.
Its a big insult in India to be called dark-skinned in India.
Believe me, They are trying to spread that concept to Sri Lanka by bombarding us with their cinema (which has no dark-skinned actors even though there are loads of dark people floating around India) and skin-lightening cream advertisments.
Unfortunately, I think its begun to catch on. There are all sorts of Indian skin-lightining cream advertisments on the telly. How silly, Sri Lanka is very sunny and very close to the equator. The fools who use that sh*t will probably get skin cancer. |
