India has many many monuments so it is difficult to pin point. If you come to Tamil Nadu you can see sculptures carved in granite on the walls of the temples built more than 1500 years ago. There is a temple in Tanjore whose Vimana ( TOP) has a huge stone weighing tons. Even today many engineers are wondering how at that time when no crane was available or made the stone could be taken there.

There are many monuments in India of all type .You could choose any kind you like .There are some ancient monuments like many old temples in India ,centuries old univercity of Nalanda near Patna in Bihar,Ajanta and Ellora caves with ancient paintings and sclptures,thousands of years old rock paintings in Madhya pradesh.If you like forts and architecture,Rajasthan ,M.P.and Karnataka have many beautiful forts and building apart from Taj Mahal(of course it is the most beautiful).In Delhi we have the Lotus temple which is newly constructed.The temples give you inner peace.
