I t really depends on your workplace. If you are into IT then Salt Lake is the area for you. Or possibly Rajarhat. Rent would be 5K to 8K.
If you have to frequent the Central Business Area then go for Ballygunge.

the salt lake area is nice, u will get a lot of variety of accommodation. even the new alipore area is good. lot of construction going on near ruby hospital on the by-pass also the rajarhaat area. rents are all varied. consult a good agent.
