cochin has the most polluted beach that i have ever seen anywhere in the world but it was great to sip on fresh fruit juices, by the chinese fishing nets and watch the dolphin swimming and playing in the river or to see a brilliant red sunset from the same spot. vypeen island is oopposite and was a lovely day trip away from the maddening crowd.
most of the rubbish on the beach is from upstream as cochin is on the coast but it would be nice if an effort was made to clean up the beach where all the tourists go. not just for the tourists but for the health of people as all the fish restaurants and market are nearby.

I really don't know the answer. 'Polluted' and 'lovely' create an oxymoron and really don't seem to belong in the same sentence. I've never seen any place that is very polluted that I would consider 'lovely'. I'm looking forward to seeing what the answer is. Cheers!!

As far as I know Pollution is nearly equally distributed among top cities I have seen. And all cities are not eligible to be reckoned as lovely places because of their pollution, traffic, roads etc.
But I can give you the not-polluted places which are very lovely. Tirumala is one such place.It is like Heaven.

I could be that Surat is the most polluted city.In fact most cities will be polluted.
But you have many beautiful places just beyond every city.
Beaches in Goa,Kerala etc and many hill stations are lovely places to visit.
