Gangotri, the source of the Ganghes. It's relatively safe if you can handle glaciers, high winds and a few ascetic monks, saints and holy men who live in that area all year round. Still safer, cleaner and quieter than Benares or Calcutta, and you don't have half the beggars esp. in December. So if you freeze to death at the source, I heard from one Hindu, all the sins of ALL lives are forgiven, compared to just bathing in the Ganghes river at Benares where the sins of only your PRESENT life are forgiven. Good deal! Watch out for falling rocks and avalanches! |

as my experience says aulli near joshimath in utttarakhand will be best less crowdy and safe snowly place. |

i would prefer u to visit darjeeling since its the best and the most tourist attracted place in india or prefer sikkim , the best place to travel the himalayas |

Try Darjeeling-Gangtok in East....Rohtang, Kufri, Nainitaal, gangotri aur for that matter any lesser known hill station in north India in Himachal , Kashmir, Uttranchal.... |
