Which is the bigger city among Hyderabad and Bangalore?

If you consider Hyderabad alone, then probably Bangalore is bigger. But if Hyderabad, Secunderabad (which is a twin city of Hyderabad) & the entire Greater Hyderabad area is considered, then it is far bigger than Bangalore in terms of both population & area.

If we also consider the huge investments being made in the infrastructure projects in Hyderabad (Airport, ORR, Fab City etc.), in just a few years Hyderabad will out pace even Chennai.

If location of consulates of major countries is any indication, Hyderabad again is way ahead of Bangalore. The U.S. consulate is ready to start, Iran already has a consulate here, Pakistan is planning to open temporary consulate office & Japan, Germany, Canada & Saudi Arabia are also actively considering Hyderabad as the next location for their consulates in India.

Please ask which is the bigger hearted city among Hyderabad and Bangalore. The undisputed answer is Hyderabad. Otherwise minor differences in the size in terms of area and population do not matter much.

At present bangalore is bigger than india. However, Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities and combined, they are bigger and are fast growing. With the new enactment and passage of Greater Hyderabad bill, in which a number of suburbs are going to be merged with Hyderabad shortly, It will be bigger than probably Chennai. The total area is likely to be around 725 sq kms.

Hyderabad is bigger - it is a twin city with enough space for 3 Bangalores. It's rich heritage can't be compared with Bangalore. More population and less space makes Bangalorians confined in small houses. If you visit Hyderbad and spend at least a month exploring ... you will know the truth. Hyderabad is royal in every sense. The space - look at the roads alone. 80ft, 100ft roads are considered the most wide in Bangalore. come and see Hyderabad then you will know - the amount of gold trade, money, software ... definitely Hyderabad.

Hyderabad pronunciation (help·info) or Hidarābād /haɪd̪əraːbaːd̪/ (Telugu: హైదరాబాదు,Urdu: حیدر آباد ) is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. With approximately 8.1 million people (81lakh), it is India's 6th largest metropolis[1] and the 41st largest metropolitan area in the world. Hyderabad has a twin city named Secunderabad which was formed when the British residency of the erstwhile princely State of Hyderabad had set up a military base near Hyderabad. Hyderabad is known for its rich history, culture and architecture representing its unique characteristic of a meeting point for North and South India, and its multi-lingual culture, both geographically and culturally. Hence, Hyderabad is considered to be the gateway of southern India. Hyderabad has always been a place where Hindus and Muslims have co-existed peacefully for centuries.

Hyderabad and the surrounding areas of Telangana have a distinct dialect. The Telugu spoken here has assimilated many Urdu words into it. And the Urdu spoken here is also unique, with some Marathi words and a unique Hyderabad accent, giving rise to a dialect sometimes called as Hyderabadi Hindi.

Hyderabad is also one of the most developed cities in the country. It is the emerging information technology (or IT) and biotechnology hub of India. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities, separated by the Hussain Sagar (bound by the 'Tank Bund'), a manmade lake made during the time of Ibrahim Qutb Shah in 1562. The Charminar (Urdu: "Four Minars") monument, built in the center of Hyderabad by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591, is a commemoration of the eradication of a plague in the region.
Bangalore (proposed to be renamed Bengalooru or Bengaluru) (Kannada: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು; pronunciation: ['beŋgəɭuːru] (help·info) in Kannada and /'bæŋgəlɔː(ɹ)/ (help·info) in English) is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Located on the Mysore Plateau in south-western Karnataka, Bangalore has an estimated metropolitan population of 6.1 million (61 lakh), making it India's third-largest city and fifth-largest metropolitan area. Though historical references to the city predate 900, a written history of continuous settlement exists only from 1537, when Kempe Gowda I, whom many regard as the architect of modern Bangalore, built a mud fort in the city and established it as a province of the Vijayanagara Empire.

During the British Raj, Bangalore developed as a centre for colonial rule in South India. The establishment of the Bangalore Cantonment brought in large numbers of migrant Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh and North Indian workers for developing and maintaining the infrastructure of the cantonment.[1]

After India gained independence in 1947, Bangalore evolved into a manufacturing hub for public sector heavy industries—particularly aerospace, telecommunications, machine tools, heavy equipment, space and defence. The establishment and success of business software services firms in Bangalore after the liberalisation of India's economy has led to the growth of India's information technology industry. Bangalore is referred to as the Silicon Valley of India and accounts for 35 percent of India's software exports.[2] Home to prestigious colleges and research institutions, the city has the second-highest literacy rate among the metropolitan cities in the nation. However, as a large and growing metropolis in the developing world, Bangalore continues to struggle with problems such as air pollution, traffic congestion, and crime.

On December 11, 2005, the Government of Karnataka announced that it had accepted the proposal by Jnanpith Award winner U. R. Ananthamurthy to rename Bangalore to its Kannada name, Bengaluru.[3] On September 27, 2006, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) passed a resolution to implement the proposed name change, pending approvals from the Government of Karnataka and citizens of the city. [4] On October 7, 2006, the Government of Karnataka accepted this resolution and decided to officially implement the name change on November 1, 2006.[5] However, the name change still has to be approved by the central government, a process that is expected to take a few months.
So Bangalore is bigger
