For me the village I was born, an unknown village of West Bengal, where still my parents are waiting for me to come home is the most beautiful and peaceful place in the world.
Tourist interest wise many place can be named.
1. Silent vally, Kerala
2. Araku valley, Andhra Pradesh
3. Netarhat, near Ranchi
4. Any unknown sea beach in Goa, Tamil nadu etc.
5. Any not so crowded hill station in Himalaya |

i guess u could come upto darjeeling. this is one hell of a peaceful place with the local people kinda relaxed and laid back. its also very beautiful with a backdrop of the might himalayas. it may not be the most peaceful, but it is might relaxed. also it still has the charm of the colonial raj. |

By convention the beauty is a relative term and does not qualify for comparison when the natural ambience of a place in Earth is in question. Further the nature's beauty cannot be measured in terms of anything including beauty, which is a relative term for comparison and doesnot qualify to merit a place as most beautiful and the best in the India! The rating of beauty of a place would vary from person to person and everyone would say the place known to them which was most memorable to them in terms of beauty and tranquility, as the best! The Ooty, Kodaikanal, Simla, Darjeeling, Nainital in India are equally good in terms of manything in comparison! But I would say, to me the most beautiful place in India is my home and the most peaceful place is my mother's lap! |

I know this might be the most unexpected answer, having travelled almost all of india looking for the same answer..i finally found a not so known place called Lansdowne in Uttranchal as the most peaceful,serene and soothing place..must go once in alifetime..it's worth it ! |

Any sea-side village in North Goa bordering Maharashtra...very congenial weather..very friendly people..good food..ever-pleasant surroundings and the least cost...either for short visit or as a choice to live there and settle down..cheer up ...find out for yourself to get convinced.. |

see u got different views of different people, so talking bout INDIA is really a beautiful place to be, vast considering religion, culture everything from Kashmir to Kanyakumari from Gujarat to N. E. states( Seven Sisters of INDIA). so according to me ans for u r question wud be to find out on u r own cos i don't think u can plan trip to all the places that people here have suggested u.
