Maharashtra, Gujarat, AP, Tamil Nadu , Kerala , Karnataka, Delhi are the most developed states in India. But if you are coming as a traveller, you should visit Uttaranchal, Himachal, Assam, Arunachal, Kerala, Rajasthan and MadhyaPradesh.

India is a colorful country and every state has its imporance. UP is important politically, Bihar and Orissa are rich with natural resources, West Bengal has a spiritual & Cultural heritage, Meghalaya , SIKKIM, Manipur , Goa are simply splendid. Chattisgarh & Jharkhand are developing fast. J&K is the heaven on earth.

There are many developed states in India to visit.But in my opinion once you should visit north east.You will really gonna enjoy you vacation.

All others debating on development by state, please note we are all equally developed. It is just jargon of numbers presented by state governments.

Delhi -In this state you can see : Red fort, humayun tomb, kutab minar, akshardham temple, lotus temple.

Rajasthan -- In this state you can see: Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Sawai madhopur adventure.

Agra - Taj mahal and agra fort.

Goa- This is known as golden beaches.

Kerala - This state is educationally very high and beaches are so nice, houseboat is best attraction for every travelers.

Rapid industrial growth, fast agricultural growth, great infrastructure, nice people.
But unfortunately state is poor on tourist places. However you can visit Mahatma Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, Akshardham in Gandhinagar.

the most developed state, economically, is Maharastra , followed by Gujarat which is developping very fast; (Ahmedabad is called the "indian Hong Kong")
socially, it is with no doubt Kerala, with an alphabetisation rate of 90%, followed by Maharastra
