What makes former Miss India Nafisa Joseph different from other Miss Indias of recent times. While most recent Miss Indias have opted for a career
in films, Nafisa right from the day she won, was completely against joining films, even if Hollywood came calling. That’s because Nafisa doesn’t do any job she doesn’t like and films just happens to be part of this segment.
“You cannot succeed in your work, until it suits your frame of mind,” points out Nafisa. Nafisa loves being a VJ on MTV as it has made her popular and almost as well known as film actresses. “Every evening film buffs from across the country watch my show to know the latest on Bollywood. I am fairly well known amongst the film loving fraternity of our country.”
Nafisa who started her modelling career at the age of 13, says modelling made her confident, which resulted in the Miss India title in 1997. Though she won the Miss India title ahead of Diana Hayden, she could not get past the semis in the Miss Universe contest, while Diana went on to become the Miss World that year. But she doesn’t regret it.
Nafias feels there is no place for regrets in life and it’s no use crying over them. Nafisa now has plans to join journalism and the broadcasting industry. At present though, she is enjoying her stint as a VJ and her modelling assignments.
Moreover as a brand ambassador for Will Lifestyle, Nafisa says fashion industry is at its peak and the West is now looking towards India as the next fashion country of the world. |
