Everyone is excited about all the festivals, including Holi.
But darn many of us, live outside India and celebrating them the
same as in India is not the same as in US. The most enjoyable
things are for the kids, teens, and youth. With busy work lives,
we try to provide our kids with similar cultural understandings
and yet do not have the complete understanding, unless we take
them to India and show importance to our festivals.
Yesterday I was talking to few teens, and many said they have
no idea when it was and all they know is they perform the
pooja and some colors. It is sad that such a great culture
cannot be replicated in western society.
I hope and wish that our traditional Indian culture is maintained
in its spirit and all adults need to pay attention before the next
generation does appreciate about our cultural holidays.
