first lemme say - if not india or china this guy - nutrinomuncher surely sucks right along all the way!!
be it India or China - if guys like him are present in good numbers that country will definitely not become a super-power, because all these guys can do is to curse their surroundings instead of doing anything to improve it and on top of that they feel ok (or might even proud) to curse their own country.
So shame on you - nutrinomuncher.

As for the real question - china has grown faster but along the way the quality has gone off-route, unless that is checked (which i doubt - thanks to communism) China will face down growth soon.

China has no aspirations to be a superpower because it knows that to be one you will have to spend a huge proportion of your GDP on arms, and it knows how wasteful that can be. At present, its spending on defence is a drop in the ocean compared with that of the US. The next superpower will probably be Russia. India is not even an also-ran.

china is already the manufacturing superpower, america is only a cultural and military superpower it's no longer a total superpower, the EU is as powerful politically and china is more economically powerful, india may well be the next manufacturing superpower if it can sort out its infrastructure. The USA's days of dominance are all but dead.

The definition of a true superpower is military, economic, cultural and political dominance. I see no country having total dominance in all four areas for a long time, but the future superpowers are touted as the EU China India and Brazil, but i think domination will be split across several powers.

You know what, it's hard to say who will be. China is a manufacturing center of the world. India is a service-providing center of the world. They both have a large workforce. They both have a young median age. They both have a huge military. They both have a fast growth rate. Anything can happen. These fools who are predicting 'China' or 'India' base it on garbage the media provides them. But really, anything can happen.
One thing you have to remember is that India's growth in terms of the economy and military is overshadowed by China's because China is America's enemy and India is America's friend!
