Why are indians so rude?

Being an Indian and having lived for many years in US, I find that Indians are arrogant in general. I do not find it or take it as an insult because it is there general normal behaviour and it comes as a shock after living in other part of the world where people are mostly soft spoken and are not blunt. So it may not be a direct arrogance to americans, it may take a while to get adjusted to the normal behaviour which we perceive as abnormal.

That's a total stereotype. You can't make generalizations like that based on a few people. That would be like asking why white people are serial killers. Serial killers tend to be white, but not all white people are serial killers.

If thinking you are smarter than someone else is considered rude by Americans then I guess they are being just that.
Lets face it a smarter person is always more confident - this seems condescending to the others.
Indians are smarter than the average American. They are getting the best of jobs in IT, Hospitals and out sourcing.
They are in the best of American Universities. That speaks a lot about their caliber.
There is one thing about your question that I quite don't understand - ' Americans respect them, but they get nothing in return '.
What are Americans looking for boy ? Isn't what the Indians already doing enough ?

thats just the ones u've seen/met ....it doesn't go towards other ones....i mean lots of people say american girls are rude and arragont...but i don't think so...u can't say that one nationality is rude or whateva coz its just not right as all of us are different.

so u kno the indians they think jus because others r americans they dont care indians so they try to be smart to the americans but that smart becomes rude to the other peoples who see... thats what happens...

this does not happen only in america everywhere it happens, u kno when i go to a shop to buy something they dont respect me at all cus i look lik an arab guy, but when i speak in hindi or in their language then they will start giving respect to us more than v ever expect...

well i think that is because not every American treats them the same. u hav tis feeling that u do not belong in a community when it is not u'r mother country. But i think that most of the Indians there(specially the young generation) are Indians who respect every nationality

maybe the were rude to you because you come off as a little pompous yourself? And Americans dont show them respect, maybe single individuals do, but as a whole America has screwed them over worst of all.

Hey u have got it wrong. Its the rich Indians that u are talking about. Normal Indians have a lot of respect and love for the Americans. Atleast I do.

well you have to know one thing that India was ruled by British for over 200 years and they treated Indians like animals. and now India is definitely a developing country, but still the literacy rate in India is 45% and 55% is still illliterates, you must have spoken to one belonging to the 55% who cannot make difference between a british and an american. and dude, your words "like they are smarter" shows arrogance from your side too!!! may be you asked the wrong person or may be the way you approached was incorrect. you show them some respect and love , they will help you more than you have asked..

i dont think Indians are at all rude they r well known for there hospitality all over the world.exceptions r always there but hey dude talk about americans i think they r d most disgraceful person on earth atleast indians r not selfish....when an indian goes to america he is really look down upon....d white people do not treate them fairly still indians do not raise voice against such injustice...still there r some places in US where indians r not allowed to work it is written clearly outside only for whites n still US tall abt equality which exists only on paper coz dats d reason dat till now US do not have any president who is woman...If indians do not treat americans well it is bcoz of americans...First one should see there own faults then point out others mistakes....
