There was no other contender from India. Whether it was pseudo patriotism or not, I like the fervor with which Indians got together for this cause.
India has numerous heritage monuments I agree that can be promoted for tourism. Tourism indeed has a big potential, it can do wonders to our economy. It is an industry by itself but it hasn't been tapped to the fullest.
India has so much to offer to the world tourists, but we lack in planning. Where is the infrastructure to support the influx of tourists ? We can't even offer clean toilets to people in public places. There is a long way to go, before what you suggest can become a reality. |

Keeping the Taj Mahal at the forefront is stereotypical...
I dint vote 4 th Taj...with th size of our population, i pretty much knew th results!
But, th Elephants i dont mind... :)
As for Tourism...India needs a big clean-up first! |

Jittu, Do you know in Taj Mahal,there is enough evidence that many HINDU markings and emblems,symbols are there inside the underground. You will not be permitted to see those items .No doubt it is to be recommended for the Seven Wonders of thw wrorld.I also voted for this on 07/07/2007 day Yours VRVRAO |

I accept that Taj is not the only place in India and mind you people do not visit Taj "Only". But your contention to not making Taj as Seven wonders I think it is bit Harsh for Indians to accept. |

Bcoz it is regarded as one of the seven wonders of the world there are many other monuments like Qutub Minar,Red fort,Gateway of India etc |
