Why do some people say that livin in chennai is a night mare...?

Some like Kesav and another person mentioned it is sucking. They do not know any thing about Chennai.

All states has problems and nuisances, Ther are bad egg's all over the world, corruption, cheating, betraying, wrong informations are common every where. If you go to another person land you are looked as a stranger it is a fact you are a stranger.

Chennai is a very simple and friendly place even a small child can come as a new visitor and the people will help as long you approach proper, If you come with an arragont nature you will receive accordingly.

Chennai is one of the best cities for any one to stay in India and it is a nigh mare for bad elements.*

I am a Chennai living person. My mother toung is Telugu. Chennai is a very nice place to live. A good place to work, do business. There is no group seperation, like now happening in Mumbai and other parts of India. The language, religion, caste, nationality nothing matters here. We all, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, North Indians, live here as brothers and sisters.

Someone was not happy to call as Setji, tamilian folks respect the word Settu. Some of the children would be called as Settu, even if he or she have some other name..

May be according to them water scarcity,pollution, bad roads,over crowded but every indian city is like that - I is about their mind set.But no comparision with other places like singapur or NY. London, Paris etc. According to me every city has its own charm and we the citizen have the responsibily to take care of them and a best place to live in.

Maybe because there is nothing called daymare??? jokes apart, Chennai is a very serious city... anything can happen, except accidents,
And accidents happen accidentally.
This is a cricket loving city, and whenever a major cricket match is scheduled at temple of cricket called Chepauk MAC Cricket stadium, temperature raises inside the stadium to a feverish high.
And to cool it down rain gods send rain bombs to keep the heat under check. Lo and behold many of the matches are cancelled, and at time even without even a minutes play. So what happens to the ticket money paid?
Last week on hearing the announcement that Test match with SAfrica begins on March 26, 2008. rain god started net practice last week at least for three days, there was heavy rains.
On the day ticket sales started it was a real sunny day.
For second day today (Mar 17, 2008) it is horribly sunny. Ticket sales is picking up. slowly and steadily the printed tickets will all be sold out and a day before ie on 25 March well most of the die hard fans will be eagerly buying the tickets from official black markets at high premium fixed ... but after all these what happens will be any body's guess.
In the past 100 years in Chennai there was never such a big rain as witnessed last week in the month of March.
And rain god, I am sure will create a mammoth record for continuous five days of rain starting from maybe late on Mar 26.

Under these conditions Chennai turns out to be a biggest nightmare and unruly too.

World might see terror attacks, we in Chennai undergo worse pain and live on stoically.

i like to high light that no chennai people will guide you for wrong way. but people affariad to tell that they dont know the way, instead of that they tell some other way many time. so when your are asking the way, you ask 3 or 4 people and judge the way. dont go with single man sugestion. the wrong way experiance even happen to chennaities. it is not intension. and as the other person told the calling north indians or by other name is considered nothing wrong. it has no intention other then the group identification.

chennai is very good place for all. you can meet any communities. all are safe living. chennai has the most security by the police persons. it is no way as night mare. try to open your eyes and ask the help to your known people.

Chennai is very nice place. Call tamilians, keralites, north Indians... What 's wron- addressing like this ? We call americans, Indians.. redindians, blacks so on.. There is no ' nightmare there. Only problem is water. Poor- rich people can easily live there.Good accomodation, vehicle, hotels, froots, all are nice.

Generally it is a good city to live in.
Cost of living is much less compared to other metros.

traffic is a nightmare , but u have not seen how it is at bangalore. At bangalore ppl drive in any way they wish , and blame the opposite party if there is an accident.
yes, chennai ppl are little cheap in their thinking, but its more to do with their poverty and tough life. Life is generally safer compared to most north indian cities, esp for women. In delhi there is no woman who has not been pawed or groped.
so chennai is way better.

Because it is the most corrupted and anti-racist city. Still there r young guys who call the other people with there religion's aspect. Something like Tamilians calling North Indians :Sethkar or Seth Payia. Sounds Stupid.. Also B'cos the people here r so innocent that any conman can easily betray a smart person. The other reason being, ladies still consider themselves a 2nd power to male. still the discrimination of women continues.

I can say so many answers.....

We get good service anywhere in India except chennai. They don't give respect to the customer. Here merchant is the king and monopoly. They don't allow others to start business.

No control over auto fare as many of the autos owned by police. They can drive on the road as they like.

You'll find minimum 10 man holes per each k.m. distance, which are very very dangerous.

They don't know how to prepare the food of other areas and the food here is very hard to digest.

When a city is growing, it should find out the needs of the people and improve the businees accordingly. This will not happen here.

i am north indian.. so when i went they would look at me very wierdly and sometimes they cheat you and tell you wrong directions, etc. but in all it is a very nice place
