Why would you want to visit the Taj Mahal in India?

Do you think the architects hands realy got cut off because the beloved wife Mumtaz wanted only that one building and no other? Is it true or not?
Because some people say that is true but I do not know what to think is the truth so I want to hear your opinion or thought.
What do you think about it love wise?
You can answer any of the questions. Does not have to be all of them. I just want to hear other peoples thoughts on the Taj Mahal.
Laterz.

Well if they did get their thumbs cut off (that's what the legend says, thumbs not hands -- but none of it is proven) it wasn't because Mumtaz wanted it; she wasn't even alive when it was built. It was built as a mausoleum for her.

I think it's very romantic that he built the entire gorgeous building and surrounding gardens just for her. It's like heaven on earth -- really, some people say that Shah Jahan meant for it to be that way. The gardens reflect the Islamic view of heaven. It's like she was laid to rest in paradise. You know it used to have so many jewels and gold leaf enlaid in the walls, but tourists stole them? It used to be even more beautiful than it is now... It looks much more beautiful in person than in pictures, and at some times of the day, like it dawn, it seems to glow. I think the stories about the architect's thumbs getting cut off is just a story created to emphasize how much Shah Jahan really wanted this building to be unique, to be the only Taj Mahal in the world, just for his Mumtaz. =)

Also, like the other person said, I thought it wasn't a big deal. But when you see it up close, you notice all the amazing details, the carvings and calligraphy on the walls, the painstaking work that was put into it. It's awe-inspiring.

The myths dispelled by the previous person are absolutely right.

In addition, I think that the Taj Mahal, more than anything else, is a beautiful work of art. Consider the time it was made in! Without the construction cranes and specialized tools that are available today, the masons of that time were able to carve out a perfectly symmetrical, aesthetically perfect monument to the King and India in general!

I also request you to go there yourself and see all the details that are there in the Taj...I also used to think "big deal...it's just a big stone building"....but upon loser inspection, you see that there is an immens amount of detail in every inch of the Taj....this could not have been done in any other way, but by the hard work of those extremely talented workers under the heat of the Agra sun. Honestly...nothing else compares to it in this world, and I feel so proud telling others that I come form the land of the Taj!

I highly recommend that you go there yourself and just be. when you go there, you can feel the vibes of the place and each one who goes there gets inspired by a different part of the mahal. Try and then come back :) ....

TAJ MAHAL is one of the seven wonders of the world. Any one who knows India is familiar with the name Taj Mahal . The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, that was built under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is a symbol of the eternal andeverlasting love that Shah Jehan showed for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal

this is absolutely true.hands of 20,000 workers were cut off so that any other building as beautiful as taj mahal itself could not be made.

She died before it was built,so that's a myth.

heyyheyy
the person that had the taj mahal built cut off the THUMBS of the people that worked on the taj mahal because he didn't want them to built anything just like it ever again. yes. i do believe it. it's SUCH a beautiful place .it has PERFECT symmetry. it feels like you're in heaven and the waterpool in the front is SOOO beautiful! if you ever have a chance...don't miss out on the taj mahal. but i still don't think their thumbs should have been cut off. lol.
