East of Ireland here and yes that would be awesome if we could have Ireland as a United Island but that'll never happen, not in the real world anyway.

I am an Englishman living in Eire. 1. Absolutely not. The supermarkets here carry 30 different varieties of Cheddar but not a bit of Cheshire or Wensleydale to be seen. I cant get twiglets or pork scratchings here, and for some reason the only "English" beer that is easily available is Bass. ( I think because Bertie Ahern likes it) Any major outlet such as Tesco or Argos are considerably more expensive in the South for the same items and it has nothing to do with the exchange rate pound/euro. When i travel up to the North for an occasional foray the car parks are packed with Eire registered vehicles. so as far as 1. is concerned viva la difference. 2. Why a separate identity? As far as i can tell most people in the North are proud to be both Irish and British,those that would prefer a united Ireland have always had the option of the ballot box. A.C Co. Roscommon

Its our country, who has a right to take that away for us. We got 26 counties back from the English and we are still working on the last 6. Give me a break, I want a united Ireland

we should just adopt the vile english's policy
plant.
all the ,,delinquents'' that dublin's moving out to the country
move them to the border counties in the North eg.Derry, Fermanagh, Armagh, Down etc.
besides,
we were originally promised Fermanagh and Armagh
but the scum cheated us out of it

create a town on the border
half North
half Republic
move the Assembly to a building that's on the border
and move the Oireachtas to the same building
would help
2)i think the separation is mental, not real
if the borders were drawn up differently at the beginning
there wouldn't be unionists in Enniskillen etc.

i would love to have Ireland united and free but i also believe in it happening by peacefully means i will respect the will of the people of Ireland which just right now is the the power sharing that is happening

niorn iron here and proud of my british identity. i think we should be left alone to be two seperate countries. the majority of norn iron dont want a united ireland or it wouldve happened by now. and anyway i cant see the irish government wanting to take on thousands more citizens and having to fork out for benefits etc to help keeop them.

The people in the North have already given their voice on this matter in the last referendum when 87% voted to remain British. They also resisted the violence of the IRA to try to force them into a United Ireland. Many give their lives for their country to stop this unity . A United Ireland will only happen when the people in the south wish to join the north as part off the Uk as it once was. Many already would lke this to happen, I know. Perhaps a referendum could be held in the south ,as in the north then, if the majority in south wish to have a United Ireland as part of the UK the north can think about it.
Seems the perfect solution. United Ireland for the extremists. All British for the loyalists. I should be a politician.

North-East -

1- It's time for the Island to unite as one Republic.
There's no difference, as the partition is very much a false political partition.

2- I've met loads from the north, both unionist and nationalist, and neither, and apart from some political difference in some areas, it's hard to see a unique identity.

We're all Irish after all.
