14 year old wants to go to the Oxygen 2008 Music Festival in Ireland next summer?

? Is it a safe festival for someone of 14years old to go with a group of mates aged 14 - 18 yrs old ? I think he's far too young but he thinks I am out of touch.

Ive done many festivals in my time and with out going into much detail DO NOT LET YYOUR SON GO WITH MATES.

Oxygen is over 18'a so he can try if he likes.. personally my sister is 16 and went to electric picnic with our aunt but unsupervised no way in hell i would let a 14 year old go to Oxygen it's not safe

rustynail
Sure let him go but only if you go with him. Wear a wet suit as you will be covered in mud and all other forms of things you will not want on your skin. Also do not eat or drink anything for a week before it as you will not have a toilet there for the entire weekend or wear a nappy(diaper). Seriously though it is not suitable for a 14 year old, and this is not from me, its from a 20 year old who has been there. Too much drugs etc and troulble like tents being set on fire and people being urinated on. She suggests Electric Picnic instead as it is better supervised and more likely to give him a good time.

Tell him there's a good chance he wont be let in anyway. Not without an adult present. His 18 year old mates will not count as such.He probably knows this anyway. It's gonna be real fun for him to be stuck outside, and real fun for you to go and collect him when he tells you what happened!

I think it is a little too young, maybe wait til he's 16!!!

Way too young! I think when he is 17-18, that may be something that he can do then. Why do kids want to grow up so fast? i wouldn't trust a 14 year old to be able to handle themselves as an adult. And god forbid if something happened. BAD IDEA!

Not in a million years. I have a 14 year old, if he asked me he would have to call the doctor to stitch up my sides. I would be falling over p1ssing myself laughing. (drugs alcohol 14 -18 year olds not a good mix) your son may be trustworthy, but you can't trust everyone who is gonna be there.

Stick to your guns and say no, far too young to be that far from home with older mates that age. You're not out of touch you just care.

put your foot down and tell him no!.he is too young .think of it this way, and i am speaking as a parent myself,if anything happened to him ,who would have to live with that. we all think we are grown up enough at eighteen also ,but we're not. sometimes u have to be cruel to be kind!

Andrew D
no they r only 14 i still havent been out of the country

regina falangey
im 18 and I wasnt allowed to go until i was 16.
I personally think it is too young..alot of drink and drugs happens at oxegen(same as any festival!) and its not really a place for a 14 year old to be...he will not apprectiate you not letting him go but for your own piece of mind its better in my opinion..tell him he can go next year maybe

If he is responsible enough to make money and save to pay for it, then he is responsible enough to attend. That is what my mom always told me, if I wanted to do something like that, I would have to work for it and show her I deserved it. If he can't work apart time job, he can hang Christmas lights for neighbors, mow yards, etc.

its totally ok for him to go if he is trustworthy
