Prices in Ireland are starting to come down with the whole worldwide recession. It's still more expensive than the US though.

However, the average income in Ireland is also much higher than that in the US, so it kind of balances out

Ireland costs way more than the U.S or the U.K. it's the second most expensive place in Europe to live, the first being Finland.

It is expensive enough. It's the third most expensive place in Europe (Denmark, Finland & Ireland). But it's not that bad.

very expensive, the economy has suffered a great hit, celtic tiger pretty much over, very little jobs available, more people than ever signing onto the dole (social welfare payment), but what you get in return is the beautiful landscape, the irish spirit, humour, culture and whatnot! hope that helped!! =]

Ireland is quite an expensive place to live. 2nd most expensive in Europe but at the same time a beautiful place. The craic can be mighty. Scenery is magnificent and that is any place in Ireland. The weather is not the greatest and that is any time of year. Like 2008 summer was basically rain, rain and more rain. No wonder this land of ours is so green with alot of water patches lately.. I live in Co. Limerick which is great but you have to visit to see what you like. Good one would be to live in Co. Donegal, (beautiful place) and do your shopping across the border in Northern Ireland.. The websites for drawing tourists to Ireland doesn't show you the cost of living here. It is a bit more expensive as you get closer to Dublin but Dublin is worth the visit also. Hope this helps..

Way more expensive for EVERYHTING, unless of course you have a property there worth about 750,000 usd you could probably buy a mediocre house here for that amount even with the recession! plus if you want a job you would need a degree or higher to gaurantee you some decent income to live off! people are flocking outa here at the moment as widespread job losses are happening, plus everybody is driving over the border to the northern ireland(uk) to do their weekly grocery shopping as their almost half the price up there.

Kris......
Yes it is very expensive, but Wow, what a lovely place to live, I love it.

it is very expensive to live in Ireland but i seem to have more money now because we travel down to northern Ireland to do our shopping and saves us some money as the euro is around the same value as pounds

greenorlagh
US much cheaper - that's why u guys have stopped visiting in such large numbers.

College is much cheaper over here and we have universal health care so if you were a citizen and had to go to hospital you pay €50 for admission and then a small amount per day that you stayed there up to a maximum of three days, after that the government foots the entire bill.

All in all I think here is more expensive.
