I was 18 when I moved to Ireland from California. I stayed for five years, I really loved it there. You will do fine, the Irish are very friendly and hospitable. You will have no problem make friends there, I have been back in California now for 4 years but still have life long friends in Ireland, I think you will love it there, I miss it! Socializing will be fine especially if you are at University or working(that is where I met all my friends) and dating will be fine, but I am not sure about the permanent resident part, do you have Irish grandparents or parents or anything that would make it easier? |

Hello Mara!
We love the Americans. We don't like that Bush fella but we can't blame all of the Americans for that. Sher don't we have a picture of Jack and Jackie Kennedy proudly hanging in our kitchen next to the Pope?
You can always come visit us in Ballydung. We'll show you plenty of the socialising and dating, and you can be as loud as you like!
