An American considering a trip to Kerry, Ireland...? |
Hi ! My mother has invited me to take a trip to Kerry Ireland and I am wondering what part of the year has the nicest, semi-sunny weather. Not too hot, or too cold... I hear the Winter temps stay around 50 farhenheit? We would like to go when it's Spring or Summer in Ireland.
Thanks in advance for any helpful information!
PS: how far is Kilearny from Kerry ? Additional Details Thanks everyone!
I do have an old friend in Killearny that I would love to look up while there!
I wasn't familiar with the weather but you've all helped me out with that. I don't mind the rain at all, and 20 c is not a bad temp really. I live in the mountains in Colorado, and it's much colder than that sometimes! Thanks so much! |

Hey im from Tralee, the capital of Co. Kerry.
um well the best weather we get would be in July, or else June. 2 years ago June was really hot, and last year it rained and wasnt that hot- june is a gamble. but it usually is a nice month.
theres an international festival in Tralee during the end of August. Its called the Rose of Tralee. people from all parts of the world come to represent their city in this 2 day pangent( spelt wrong). theres one catch, the girls must have Irish bllod in them. thasts on T.V. and there'd be an atmosphere in Tralee although it can be rough. but theres lots of things to do in Tralee like we have a lovely park, beaches, and like Kilarney is the ultimate tourist heaven of ireland. kilarney is a 30 minute drive from Tralee, but u can get a train or bus if u have no car.
the list is endless for kilarney, it has so much. if u or ur mother loves history, nature ect kilarney is a most!!!!!!
email me if u need to know more ill be glad to help out:)
p.s. kilarney is part of the ''state'' of Kerry. |

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
|
You're never going to be too hot in Kerry! It's a physical impossibility!
You're probably better off going in August. You could go to Tralee and have a look at the Lovely Girls competition. |

I recommend early summer - June-ish. Maybe May maybe Jul.
My ggrandfather's from Kerry, but I've never been there. I have been to Wexford, Dublin, and Mayo in summer, fall, and spring, though. And I recommend any time of the year, just go! It's fabulous.
Have so much fun!
Also, Kilarney is in Co. Kerry. |

Some of the rainiest parts of Ireland are in Kerry. Late summer (July, August) is probably the most likely time for it to be dry, but the weather here is highly unpredictable. Don't let this put you off going though, it's a beautiful part of the country. And Killarney is a town in Kerry. |

Killarney is in County Kerry.
To be honest, as it's Ireland we're talking about, I cannot tell you what type of weather to expect at any time of the year - Irish weather is famous for its unpredictability. However, as someone who lives in Ireland, I can recommend layers that you can remove as it warms up, plus a hat, scarf, gloves and good shoes as well as a rain jacket.
The thing is that the weather can change from minute to minute - it can be lovely and sunny and feel about 20 degrees C, then a cloud comes in, blocks the sun, it gets cold and windy and starts to rain ... so you see it's very common to get all four seasons in one day in Ireland.
If it's sun you want, you might want to consider Southern Europe instead.
Edit: Yes, but my point is that it can change very quickly, and feel a lot colder all of a sudden - it's good to be prepared for that. |
