Annoyed with the term 'St Patties Day'?

Anyone else incredibly annoyed with the term St 'Patties' day???
ITS PADDIES DAY!! As in Paddy is short for Patrick!!! No offence to any Americans but damn you Americans!! Lol Although I suppose we do play a small part in the way we pronounce it, with an Irish accent it kinda sounds like Patties day, but seriously anyone else annoyed with this?? We should have a world wide campaign to fix it!!!

I know its sooooo annoying

i saw it over and over on Y!A around Paddys day.....

isnt a pattie like a burger bun or something?

Go PADDYS day!!!!!

bettyboo
Yeah, it annoys me too, but its probably just the way Americans pronounce it.

Other things that annoy me are people referring to Ireland as Southern Ireland and adding an s to the word Euro. I feel like shouting ...ITS LIKE SAYING SHEEPS, but I know no one else cares so I've given up

robin H
lol Pat from Ohio...nice to learn that you Americans know better than the Irish about our own names!! Paddy is short for Patrick ( comes from the Irish version Padraig).

Pattie is very American...and quite horrible, but not all Americans use that term. So can't blame them all.

MUSICGUY
it infuriates me,i really shouldn't get so uptight about it.
i saw a question near paddy's day and someone thought that on patrick's day, irish people get presents from leprachauns!like come on........seriously!
the ignorance of some americans is unbelieveable<<<i know that might seem stereotypical but all the misperceptions i've heard about ireland come from 95% americans

my avatar's hot!
Well, here in NY I've yet to hear Patties... :) I think Irish accents are sexy as hell. If that's any consolation at all.. LOL

Megan C
Ive never heard such a thing. Everyone knos its Paddys day

bcn_mimosa

haha yeah in canada some of my friends would say patties day too, and it really bugged me.And now that youve reminded me about it, i feel all annoyed again.

And Pat from Ohio, we use both pat and paddy as being short for patrick here in ireland. Pattie is used as short for Patricia, not Patrick. Paddy is rice field too, but theres plenty of words with more than one meaning..here have a look..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddy

Squee
YES. Paddy NOT Pattie. =| It's just so stupid.

thatslife2
I've never heard of that term 'St Patties Day' in my life! It just doesn't seem to make any sense spelt like that! It's always been known as St Patrick's Day Or Paddy's Day, I personally refer to it as 'St Patricks Day'!!.... :-)

tigertiger28
not really its not life changing and the world still keeps turning and its not harming anyone even if someone called it st panties day....it doesnt matter.

dermotpurcell24
once we all know what it means thats the point

I would not go that far yet. I am really annoyed with it but try and find other people in your general area who are first

Ah ah I know it's really annoying! Well I don't get TOO annoyed because I'm Italian originally but I remember a drunken debate about this between my Irish and American co-workers... hilarious. They went on for hours!

Is máith liom cáca millís!
I know it is one of the most annoying things ever!

But isn't it a bit late to be asking this!

þ®øj뀆.. X
Do not blame all Americans for using that term. Only the trendy idiots, most likely schools or businesses use that term. I do not use that term and am offended that you place all Americans as one unit of thought.
It takes all kinds to make up the world, if everyone was like yourself, it would be a boring place.
No par intended.
