County Donegal's name actually means "the fort of the foreigners" ... a reference to when the Vikings planted themselves there.

It's a place that really does have a life of its own - and a people unto its own too! Simply because up until recent times it was fairly isolated from the rest of Ireland.

It's a beautiful place filled with equally beautiful people, scenery, history and warm welcomes!

If you like Ireland and the Irish people (and most of us do!) ... then you'll adore County Donegal!

Its supposed to be one of the most beautiful places in Ireland aswell as Galway. I've been to West Cork and Waterford. West Cork was fantastic.

I've been to Letterkenny in county Donegal. The city was small but very pretty. There was a large castle-looking building that we later found out was a catholic school. There are also several beautiful cathedrals. The view from the bus station was also beautiful. It looked out toward green hilltops with several grazing ponies. The only downfall was that during rush hour the traffic was a mess. It was crazy that such a little town could be so crowded with cars.
