I have lived in Midleton East Cork for 12 years and my family are still there. I went to school in Midleton. My late father was from Skibbereen in West Cork. Even though I am no longer living in Cork, I still go there for holidays each year. §

I am English btw.

Yes - I went to Cork City and the people were very nice - but it rained a LOT!

Yes. I was there for part of my honeymoon, and it was lovely. We stayed at the Arbutus Lodge, which didn't have the best rooms in the world, but the food was great and I've never seen a wine list like it. We did all the touristy stuff - Cork Gaol, Blarney Stone, Dingle Bay...beautiful place, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been. The Levellers were playing there, so we saw them too which was fun.

Oh, and on the flight from Dublin, the pilot kept announcing how high he was flying the Fokker, which kept us tourists amused :o)

If you have a specific area in Cork in mind, you should say so. For example Cork city, or County Cork? If County Cork, it would be helpful to say what town, village or area, as it's the largest county in Ireland.

From Belgium, worked in Clonakilty, Co. Cork for about a month. The town's people were very friendly, the artists' club thingy they have there was very nice too, but the people at the hotel where wouldn't give me a chance and sent me away after 3 weeks.

Just wondering, does Cork still have those signs saying it's the REAL capital of Ireland? (and where did that come from anyhow? wondered about that for a while).

I very much prefer Sligo when it comes to living there - I was in Ireland for 7 months in total before coming home and aside from the month in Clonakilty, that's where I lived

Yes, I fly there most months on business. The airport is much improved.
For city life Cork is the next best city to Dublin.
Great eating places and pubs.
Blarney Castle only 30mins from the city.
