Are DVD players the same in Ireland???

If I was going to visit Ireland, do the DVD players there play DVDs that I have here in the US? I see all of this stuff about Region codes, and am now utterly confused...I never thought about it until I say Region code stuff.

Hey, Check out this web site for dvd hack codes, its sooo simple. I had the same problem with dvds I bought in the states but it was just a matter of getting a hack code for my dvd player at www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks following the instructions and then hey presto my irish dvd player plays american dvds!!! Yay! Happy viewing!

it depends what the region code is on your dvd. some us dvd only have a region code of 1. also some can be used by any type of dvd player. you just have to cheak to see what the region code is in ireland. your best bet if you want to watch a dvd there is to just bring a propoble dvd player.

might not. usa and canada have the same region codes. not all of them have them though.

"DVD players have a certain Region Code based on the country they are sold in. Depending on the Region Code for your player, you can only play DVDs with the same Region Code."

The players are probably the same, but I think that ireland is probably a different region than the states. The tv's over there are probably PAL standard as well, which is another issue. TV's in the states are a different standard.

No our DVD players are different to the ones in America. Some DVD's can play in any DVD player but not all of them.

Kyral
most dvd players are now multi-regional meaning they will play any dvd. For those that are not you can easily get codes off the internet to change them. European dvds are region2.

DVD players can come with multiple DVD region codes. Usually you can expand your codes if you download decoders (this works for laptops).

Or, you can get DVD players that play multiple codes. Believe it or not, the cheapest players in the stores usually have little problems playing DVDs from other regions of the world. I faced this problem with my first DVD player, which was fairly expensive with my DVDs from China. However, I was surprised to see that a cheap $30 player plays them flawlessly!

No, I've always heard that basically north america is on their own code (5 i believe) But a trick around it is buy a cheap pack of burnable dvds and use a couple of free programs to burn a duplicate, most decent programs will take the regional coding out so it will work over seas.

I recommend Dvd Shrink 3.2 and Dvd Decrypter Together they do a very good job for me, But unfortumately I haven't gotten to try it outside the area.
